ST 12 Biography


One more bands from the city of Bandung flowers enrich Indonesian music scene. ST12, a group that consists of 4 personnel, Pepep (Drums), Iman Rush (Guitar), Pepeng (Guitar), and Charly Van Houtten (vocalist) was formed in January 2005.

Groups who dreamed of becoming a top band that carried the kind of alternative pop music. "We consider this kind of music would be easier to hear, easy listening. And the audience seemed to prefer to listen to songs like that," said Pepep represent his friends.

To add to the quality of the debut album entitled I'm Not Able Again, they involve musicians Indra Utopia as a filler bass and Kang Faith GAIA to fill the keyboard.

Initially the band was initiated by Pepep and Iman Rush. Pepep had previously been joined in Oliv Band invites Pepeng, friends who both had joined the group Band Oliv.

It turned out the way they still are not as smooth as envisaged.These three men found it difficult to find a vocalist who has a sound criteria in accordance with their wishes. So an audition was done.At the audition, the trio reunited with Carly Van Houtten. "Charly has a good sound character and strong enough. In addition, he has a background as a vocal teacher. So, apparently not difficult for him to bring the song at the audition took place," said Pepep.

No different band groups are on the rise right now, their songs were mostly about love theme. "Love is more flexible. More universal. It can be enjoyed by anyone, young and old. And the themes like these that will continue to sell in the market," added Pepep.

ST12 The name itself is taken from the name of the street, East Station No. 12, which is the location of the studio where they gathered. In the studio tersebutlah, these four young men often come together and hone their skills in music. "This studio is often used as a hangout by other musician friends, both juniors, and seniors in Bandung," explained Pepep on the history of the founding of ST12.
